Security
Panama places a high value on the personal security of its residents and especially of the foreign visitors. The country has close to 100 banks, is the commercial center of the region and has traditionally hosted individuals with a lot of wealth. The Police force is very well equipped and always takes swift and decisive action. Since Noriega was ousted in 1989, the military was converted into a well trained National Police force thus discouraging any type of criminal activity. Their no-nonsense, simplified legal system keeps criminals away from the general population.
